In close collaboration with Diederendirrix, MTD landscape architects is working on the redevelopment of the Westermarkt in Tilburg-West. This is an area that fulfilled an important daily function for decades, but whose spatial quality and cohesion have come under pressure over the years.
The transformation accommodates approximately 800 homes, 10,000 m² of commercial and social functions, and an underground parking garage. This creates space above ground for a high-quality public area where greenery, quality of stay, and climate adaptation take center stage.
For MTD, the focus is on developing a robust landscape framework in which green structures, slow-traffic routes, and attractive places to linger connect the Westermarkt, the Westerpark, and the surrounding residential neighborhoods. This is how MTD Landscape Architects is working step by step on a green, accessible, and future-oriented city center that gives new meaning to the heart of Tilburg-West.
