The fourth symposium of the SAB Association (Collaborating Architects and Building Consultants) revolved around the theme of ‘circularity and sustainability.’
Moderated by Sophie Stravens, the event guided approximately 60 participants through a diverse program. Sanne van Manen (Platform Woonopgave) explored and presented alternatives to the mantra of "build, build, build." Inger Kammeraat (Urban Land Institute) provided concrete and practical tools to accelerate the sustainability transition. Mark Compeer and Bas Hasselaar demonstrated that ambition can indeed be realized through the stunning SAWA project, which participants had the opportunity to visit.
The afternoon concluded with a lively debate and a hearty Dutch "stamppot" meal, where attendees continued to discuss the many insights shared throughout the day. Finally, the book Circular Building was officially presented, a publication prepared by the SAB Circular Working Group. MTD Landscape Architects contributed to the book with the chapter Nature and Climate-Adaptive Design.
