‘LOOM - practice for cultural transformation’, is involved as quartermaster and organized the assemblies in collaboration with the Ministry of the Future. The gatherings included a guided walk through the area with various stakeholders who have a strong connection to Oud Herlaer. Niké van Keulen represented MTD landscape architects — a design office with extensive local knowledge and a deep commitment to the area. The walk marked the beginning of a co-creative process in which ideas and perspectives are brought together from the ground up.
In recent years, MTD landscape architects has worked intensively on several projects in and around Oud Herlaer. In 2019, commissioned by the municipalities of Sint-Michielsgestel, Heusden, Vught, and ’s-Hertogenbosch, MTD developed the masterplan and implementation program for Linie 1629. In 2020, a landscape framework and design plan for the Herlaer Open-Air Museum was drawn up on behalf of Stichting Herlaer. Most recently, in 2024, MTD completed the landscape and design strategy for the Bossche Broek-Zuid water retention area, commissioned by Water Board De Dommel.
A significant portion of these plans has already been realized by Brabants Landschap. Historic dikes lined with pollarded oaks have been reintroduced into the landscape, the terrain has been lowered to restore the wetland “Natuurparel,” and a walnut orchard has been planted near the historic farmhouse.
